At Our Savior, We Believe…
In the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. (John 17:17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
God’s creation included humans, who in the beginning were holy and lived in perfect harmony with Him, but through self-centeredness and disobedience chose to live independently of God. Therefore, all people are by nature sinful and that sin alienates all people from God which results in death or eternal separation from God in hell. (Genesis 3; Romans 3:23; 6:23)
God in His love and mercy sent His only Son into the world to pay for the sins of all people. Jesus, who is sinless, received the punishment we deserve. Jesus’ willing sacrifice on the cross provides us with all that is necessary for our salvation, forgiveness and life. We receive this gift of eternal life through faith (trust) in Jesus Christ who died for all people. This is Good News! (Romans 5:8; 1 Peter 3:18)
The only way for a person to receive forgiveness of sin, life and salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone. Good works result or flow from a genuine faith in Christ. Good works do not earn our salvation. (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6)
On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead and later ascended into heaven. (1 Corinthians 15; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 8:34-39)
Jesus will one day return to receive all true believers into heaven for eternity; all unbelievers will spend eternity in hell with Satan and his demons. (2 Thessalonians 1:3-12; 2 Peter 3:8-14)
Baptism is a miraculous means of God’s grace by which infants as well as youth and adults become part of God’s family. Baptism is God’s action that conveys forgiveness, life and salvation. (Titus 3:5-6; Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 6:1-4)
Through the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion) we receive, with the bread and the wine, the true body and blood of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of our faith. (Matthew 26:26-29)
All Christ-followers are called to make disciples of all nations and to tell other people (family, friends, neighbors, strangers) about the Good News of Jesus who died and rose again to bring new life and forgiveness to all who trust in Him. (John 3:19; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8)
